Lisa B. Shelkrot
Lisa is a trial lawyer who has successfully tried civil rights cases, construction disputes, family disputes, personal injury, insurance coverage, land use, and employment cases. She represents individuals from all walks of life charged with serious crimes in both state and federal court, and she has tried dozens of criminal and civil cases to verdict. She also helps her clients avoid trials when appropriate, whether through pre-trial motions practice or settlement negotiations.
Lisa is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® and by bestofus.com as a leading criminal defense lawyer, and in New England Super Lawyers for her work in criminal defense, general litigation and civil rights/first amendment law. She was named Vermont's "Lawyer of the Year" in Construction Litigation for 2017.
Lisa joined Langrock Sperry & Wool in 1995 after three years as a public defender in New York City. She previously clerked for the Hon. Stephanie K. Seymour of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She is a past president of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and has served on a variety of other non-profit boards, including the Vermont Bar Foundation, the Vermont Civil Liberties Union, Legal Services LawLine of Vermont, and The Green Mountain Chamber Festival.
