Ellen Mercer Fallon and Michele Patton Presented “Legal Tips for Small Employers”

LS&W attorneys Ellen Mercer Fallon and Michele Patton presented an educational seminar to the Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals on “Legal Tips for Small Employers.” They addressed issues such as the distinctions between employees and independent contractors, which state and federal employment laws apply to smaller employers, “at will” employment, how to terminate an employee while minimizing risk, unemployment and worker’s compensation, and Vermont’s new paid sick leave law.
