Middlebury Office Wanda joined Langrock Sperry & Wool in 2005 after clerking for the Hon. James T. Giles, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and then spending two years at another Vermont law firm. She has a general litigation practice with a special emphasis on professional malpractice, employment and family law. She also handles appeals in both state and federal courts. She has successfully briefed and argued cases before the Vermont Supreme Court including Summits 7, Inc. v. Kelly, 2005 VT 97 (2005) and Systems & Software, Inc. v. Barnes, 2005 VT 95 (2005). The Summits 7 decision established the rule in Vermont that continued employment is sufficient consideration for a covenant not to compete in the at-will context. Wanda serves on the Board of Directors of Kids on the Block – Vermont, a Burlington-based non-profit that uses life-size puppets to teach children about disabilities, cultural diversity, children’s mental health, social and safety issues, substance abuse, and AIDS. Originally from New York City, Wanda lives in Bridport with her husband and daughter and their herd of Nubian dairy goats. Prior to attending law school, she served as Education Coordinator for the Federal Empowerment Zone Project in Philadelphia, in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office of Community Services. She enjoys working in her garden, fine dining and searching for antique treasures. |
