Middlebury Office Beth joined the practice in 1993, after clerking for the Honorable David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit. Much of her practice focuses on representing injured workers in their workers’ compensation claims. Beth is a frequent presenter on this topic, and has been named in The Best Lawyers in America® as a leading workers' compensation attorney since 2003. She also represents individuals in personal injury cases, including auto accident and ski injury cases, and represents employees in connection with workplace discrimination issues. She works with gay and lesbian clients in connection with family and civil rights matters. Beth was co-counsel to the plaintiffs in Baker v. State, Vermont’s landmark case involving the rights of same-sex couples, and she helped lead the lobbying effort which led to the passage of Vermont’s civil union law. She frequently speaks about her experiences in connection with that effort. Beth currently serves as a member of the Vermont Board of Bar Examiners and is a Justice of the Peace. Her publications include “Playing it Safe: Allocating the Risk of Harm on the Slopes,” The Vermont Bar Journal & Law Digest, Vol. 25, No. 1 (March 1999) and “The Road to Inclusion for Same-Sex Couples: Lessons from Vermont,” 11 Seton Hall Constitutional Law Journal 237 (Spring 2001). Beth shares a home with her partner, and enjoys gardening, kayaking, hiking, music, and cooking tasty vegan meals. |
